You have probably heard of fitness trackers like FitBit or the Apple Watch. They collect loads of useful data so you understand better what's going on with your body, where you can improve, and help motivate yourself to be better. The Ultrahuman Ring Air is all these things but in a ring. At first, it is hard to believe all the technology watches have can be packed into a little ring, but it does! To be direct, I have very much enjoyed this ring, but let's break it down and see if it would be a fit for you.
This is an easy segment. The initial setup was a breeze. Use the app that guides you through the setup. No problems, answer some questions, and you are on your way. I did have to convert from kilograms to pounds which gave me some concern initially. But I set mine up when the product was just released and have been told this will be corrected. Chances are, you will not even see this by the time you get it. But in short, a breeze. Anyone could set this up and start using it.
I am going to try and highlight all the data it collects, but it will not do it justice as there is so much. This is a good thing. So before I get too far into this, I have pictures throughout this whole article. Check them all out because this is a great way to see all the useful items you get from the Ultrahuman Ring Air experience.
Movement
Steps, activity minutes, active hours, calorie burn for resting and activity, workout frequency, and daily charts. You will know exactly how active you are and can use this to motivate yourself to do more. Need more motivation. You get a score that you can strive to max out every day!
Sleep Index
I may be in the minority, but I love sleep data. Poor sleep and poor recovery impact everything. Your motivation, work ethic, and energy levels. I believe everything starts here. So understanding the quality of my sleep and having resources to understand where and how I can improve this are tremendous. Sleep efficiency, temperature, restfulness, consistency, total sleep, HR drop, timing, restoration time, oxygen saturation, sleep stage tracking, movement, heart rate, HRV, and more! Phew. They don't mess around here, and I love it!
Recovery
Want to know how well your body has recovered and what level of activity you may want to reach for? This is the recovery score. It takes into account your sleep and movement scores, resting heart rate, skin temperature, and 7-day HRV to help you understand your level of recovery. Use this to better understand how hard to push yourself but also take action to help your body recover better in the future.

I love the data devices like this collect and how that helps you learn about yourself. But, it drives me a bit nuts when it stops there. Fitness or wellness devices should not be one-dimensional. They need to show you how your body is doing but teach you how to be better and motivate you to want to do more.
Learning
I love the learning opportunities that are built into this ring. As you navigate the app, information is broken into a lot of categories. In these views, it does not only show you your data and how you are doing but also articles on how exactly you can improve these situations. So instead of being told, here is where you are unhealthy in the end. It says, here are areas where your health can be improved, and here is how. I love it.
Motivation
Fitness trackers need to motivate you. They should make you want to do better, to be healthier, to go exercise, and to make better decisions. The Ultrahuman Ring Air does this, but not as well as I would like at this moment. It has different scores like the movement index image to the right. This motivates you to do better and want to improve your various scores. There are all the data points we have discussed and it is motivating to see improvements there as well. But, I also think they can do more. I would love to see activities, games, competitions, and rankings built in that motivate you even more. I believe this is coming and I am excited to see what they do, but the current structure leaves me wanting more.
I test a lot of products and I cannot keep using them all or I would be covered in gadgets. I did not plan to keep using the Ultrahuman Ring Air after the completion of my review. Yet, many months later, it is still on my finger. After using this for what is now many months, I can say I have had zero issues and it works like the day I got it. It tracks the information it is supposed to, syncs to be phone without issue, and feels comfortable on my finger. In terms of battery life, it does very well. I have a charger right on my desk and I toss the ring on the charger every few days to top it off. If I let it go until it dies, I usually get around 4 to 5 days. This may be an improvement over my initial testing as I think firmware updates have been working to improve battery life. But in short, I have been very happy with both quality and battery life.
I am extremely happy with this product. But on a positive note, I think it is only going to get better. As I write this, I am using a very early version of the software. At the rate they are pushing updates and working on new features, I imagine a year from now this will be dramatically enhanced. This is exciting because it is nice to know an investment like this will only continue to get better.
Something to quickly point out, they also provide a weekly report. This is nice because it also gives you comparisons over a 3-week basis and gives you an idea of where you are trending. This is informational but also motivational.
When these fitness tracker rings first came out, I assumed there would be a lot of compromise because of how small they were. That really has not ended up being the case. For me, I don't feel like I am missing any major piece of functionality compared to other fitness watches. What you do lose, is the features provided via the screen on those devices. This varies from device to device but notifications, smartwatch applications product integrations (Roku remote, Peloton Bike, etc.), and exercise modes (GPS). The "smartwatch" items. I will admit that I very much enjoy some of this functionality, but I also really like how small the ring is and how it keeps things simpler (one less device). This is going to be down to how you like to work.

Obviously, this needs to match what you are looking for. But if it does, I will say I have been very pleased with just about everything about it. The app is easy to use, charging is simple and infrequent, information is accessible and plentiful, the ring design is extremely minimalistic, and it helps you understand so much about yourself. I started using it and have not looked back. Has been great. If you decide to get it. I hope you enjoy it as well!
